Vanderbilt Country Estates is an equestrian friendly development. Horse people are welcome here and we have taken great care to develop amenities that will be of benefit to all; such as the common area trail system for non-motorized, pedestrian and equestrian use.

Kittitas County has a long tradition of horse activities from its ranching and rodeo background to local ropers and cattle penning competitors who work and play in the area today. Western riders are expected to be found in the west, but there is a growing population of English equestrians, too. Dressage has earned its aficionados across the disciplines as the skills that it teaches such as balance, impulsion, lightness and self-carriage can improve any horse no matter what job is required of it.

The equestrian community in and around Ellensburg, Washington has something for every kind of rider. It's a great place for horses, whether you do backcountry and trail riding, endurance, roping or cow penning, or ride hunters and jumpers, or do dressage.

For kids, there are a number of local Horse 4-H Clubs that welcome new members, organized under the auspices of the WSU Extension Service and the Kittitas County Extension Office.
